Using Augmented Reality for a Better Tomorrow

From just being a science-fiction concept to a science-based reality, using augmented reality for a better tomorrow has a long trail of history. In the recent past, the costs of augmented reality were so high that animators could only imagine working on individual projects but things have changed today and augmented reality is available even on the mobile handset. Augmented reality (AR) is a view of the physical world in which elements are enhanced by computer-generated inputs ranging from sound, video, graphics, GPS overlays and more. The genesis of augmented reality occurred in 1901 wherein a set of electronic glasses mapped data onto people and it was called a “character marker”.

The technologies which have been used in the past made the invention impractical for mass use. In 1975, the first “virtual reality” interface was developed in the form of “Video place” which allowed its users to manipulate and interact with virtual objects in real-time. With many more such inventions dating back to the 19th century, augmented reality is the future of the industry. The augmented reality technology is expected to lead to growth in many fields by developing many more projects and emerge into large-scale productions. Many innovative projects have represented that augmented reality has a very good commercial value and how augmented reality is the future.

Large-scale businesses are witnessing a growth in augmented reality as they plan to develop upcoming projects using AR. The AR technology will continue to grow and pick up its pace and break all the headlines. Thus, augmented reality is the future. According to a survey report, there has been a 90% increase in the rate of accuracy followed by a 30% decrease in time consumption by building a basic AR project. Augmented reality is the future of design. As technology can be further integrated into our lives without being intrusive, it is a certainty that augmented reality would provide opportunities to enhance user experiences beyond measure and hence augmented reality is the future

The industry would almost certainly see major advances in the much-hyped but still little seen Internet of Things. Augmented reality or as it is called, AR, has become a reality from a dream in just over a century as it captures the imagination like no other technology. The advancements in gaming and entertainment done by augmented reality have given a much-needed boost to the industry. Augmented reality is the future and has a lot to offer other industries, not just entertainment. Commercial support for augmented reality is positioned to be strong, with big tech names like Microsoft, Amazon, Apple, Facebook and Google making serious commitments.

Imagine showing a worker how to do a specific task via in-context video instead of explaining. This opens doors for designers in the e-learning area to create next-generation AR interfaces. For instance, Boeing uses AR glasses powered by Skylight to guide technicians as they were hundreds of planes a year. The wearable display helps technicians identify and accurately connect hundreds of wires using only their sight and voice to control the app. As a result, Boeing cut production time by 25% and lowered error rates to nearly zero. Augmented reality technology could change the way customers and workers are trained and introduced to new information.

As we should know by now the direction of the augmented reality market, product companies generally seem sheepish in developing their plans. Given the volatility of the AR/VR market, some companies may be waiting to act. To successfully conquer the challenges involved with building out augmented reality technologies while keeping up with market expectations and reiterating that augmented reality is the future, companies may want to consider partnering with experienced vendors who can provide end-to-end product development with comprehensive engineering capabilities. Augmented reality can also be used for knowledge transfer, such as training in industrial environments.
